Sharing snaps on his teenage years, Love Island’s Jake Cornish is hard to recognise as the water engineer poses with no beard and no tattoos.

Jake, 21, has been showing off his muscly physique on the show and his many tattoos but in some Instagram throwback pics it’s hard to recognise the Love Island favourite in his younger years.

The photos of Jake show him back in his school days in Year 11 at The Blue School in Wells, Somerset.

In the picture from 2013, Jake’s hair is a lot darker and over to one side in a quiff and the teen’s youthful looks are a quite a change from the bearded tattooed 24 year old we see on our screens every night in the villa.

Taken a couple of years later, a second snap shows the fresh faced 18 year old is again clean shaven and sporting no tattoos but he shows off his already toned physique in a grey vest top.

A former school friend of Jake’s told Mail Online that appearance has always been a big thing to Jake even in his younger years.

The pal said, “He was, even at that age, obsessed with his appearance and imitated Joey’s style even back then.

“He was a real pretty boy. It’s no surprise he ended up on Love Island because he fits right in."

Jake is coupled up in the villa with blonde bombshell Liberty Poole, 21, although has admitted to pal Hugo “his head could be turned”.

The water engineer Jake and waitress Liberty seem to be the strongest pair in the villa so far and have shared kisses and even a cheeky night in the hideaway.

However, Jake was seen opening up to fellow Islander Hugo Hammond the morning after the couple’s first kiss and told a very different story.

Confiding in Hugo in the bedroom, Jake admitted: "She's grown on me, I think the biggest thing is that her personality's mint, I can't fault her.”

He later told Liberty that if a “blonde who is his type” came in the villa he would get to know her. This prompted Liberty to pull Jake for a chat in last night’s episode and tell him “I’m giving you 110% but I won’t if you are going to get to know other girls.”

So time will tell how the couple’s relationship will pan out.

Love Island airs nightly, apart from Saturdays, on ITV2 at 9pm.
