Love Island’s Gemma Owen admits she has a love-hate relationship with dad Michael

Love Island star Gemma Owen has opened up on her relationship with famous footballer dad Michael Owen, admitting it's "love-hate" as she giggled away with Ronan Keating's son Jack.

The international dressage rider, who also revealed she knew bombshell Billy and claimed he was a "player", has kept her famous family on the down low for much of this year's series so far, and it was even shared by Ikenna Ekwonna that the grand reveal happened off-screen.

But with a fellow famous child entering Casa Amor, it was the perfect opportunity for Gemma and 23 year old Jack to trade stories about their lives and privileged experiences growing up.

Getting to know each other during a dip in the house of love swimming pool, while 19 year old Gemma's beau Luca Bish, 24, was back in the original villa, Gemma quizzed Jack: "So your dad was in…"

"He was in Boyzone," the red-headed Irish bombshell replied easily. "He's retired now, five or six years ago, no two years ago I think.

"He's touring right now actually, over in the UK."

Reflecting on what it was like to have a famous musician for a dad, Jack continued: "No it's great, I mean as you probably know as well like, I've got to see some great people and do some great things, I'm blessed you know.

"Are you close with your mum and dad?"

"Yeah, super close," Gemma smiled. "I'm really close to my dad as well.

In a rare moment of opening up, the equestrian then shared an insight into her family dynamics.

"[But] it's like a love-hate relationship between me and my dad," the star giggled, as Jack was surprised at the admission.

"Oh really?" the tattooed islander laughed, and Gemma admitted she was so "similar" to her fiery sportsman father.

"Yeah, our personalities are so similar, it's either we're getting on like a house on fire or clashing," the brunette beauty added.

Later on, Gemma admitted she was "surprised" by how easy it was to interact and share things with Jack, especially when the pair had only just met.

"It was nice to talk about family with Jack, I've told everyone you know, I'm really close to my family and super family-orientated," she explained in the Beach Hut. "I think he's dead close to his dad too.

"He surprised me a little bit, and he seems like a good guy," Gemma revealed. Is there trouble ahead for Gemma and Luca?
