It takes some real daring to walk down the street in a full-blown hot-pink ensemble—and Jessica Simpson had it while hitting the pavements of New York City. The erstwhile singer and fashion mogul is currently on a press tour, promoting her memoir, Open Book. In it, she recounts her past relationships with John Mayer, Tony Romo, Justin Timberlake, and ex-husband Nick Lachey. She leaves no stone left unturned, letting out all her grievances, especially now that she is a happily married mother of three. Her empire is also worth a reported $200 million, proving that she is having a perfect day—if not a perfect couple of years.
What’s more is that “Perfect Day” is the title of a song in the Legally Blonde soundtrack. And just like the central character in the rom-com, Elle Woods, Simpson is conveying how she can be a boss and not have to dress like the wolf of Wall Street.
In a long bubblegum-pink PVC coat by Saks Potts, Simpson strutted with chutzpah, eyeing photographers as she left her hotel. She paired the brazen topper with electrifying pants, platform heels, a shoulder bag, a button-down, and large-frame sunglasses (it’s pretty gloomy in the city)—all in shades of pink. Indeed, she is certainly following Woods’s edict: “Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed.”
Simpson clearly got that memo. Though, if orange, blue, beige, or red is more to your liking, Saks Potts has you covered there too.
