Janette Manrara, who recently quit her role on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, has detailed the pair having to separate ahead of the new season. It comes after her husband Aljaž Skorjanec, 31, was forced to leave the couple’s home last year amid coronavirus restrictions.

The Miami-born dancer will be fronting the Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two after taking over Zoe Ball’s presenting role.

The 37-year-old will be co-hosting the BBC series alongside Rylan Clark-Neal when the dancing competition returns to viewers’ screens next month.

Janette has now explained that they won’t be able to live together but added it “won’t be as long as last year”.

Addressing the situation in a new interview, the BBC presenter explained that the couple will be apart for some time again.

“We always do a big rehearsal for all the pro dances and they get rehearsed and sometimes even filmed before the series begins,” Janette explained.

“Because Covid is still an issue, in order for the show to continue moving forward with the professional numbers, the professionals and the production team have to isolate to rehearse and film all the pro dances, which means Aljaž will have to move out of our home.”

The Strictly star added to OK! magazine: “But it won’t be as long as last year.”

The It Takes Two presenter explained that she will go on holiday to take her mind off missing her other half.

Janette said: “Last year we had to isolate for the whole series and I didn’t see Aljaž for 11 weeks. But this time it’s only the four weeks of pro rehearsals.

“I’m going on holiday so I can get my mind off missing Aljaž.”

The former Strictly dancer has since addressed her exit from the primetime show and admitted the moment has been “bittersweet”.

As news of the celebrity Strictly contestants is announced, Janette took to Instagram to congratulate the contenders taking to the dancefloor.

Tom Fletcher, Robert Webb and AJ Odudu were confirmed on The One Show to be making their Strictly debut.

Taking to the picture-sharing site, Janette began: “What I was really going to say is that the first three celebs have been announced for the new series!

“It’s bittersweet because it kind of hit me today, like, oh gosh.”

Janette went on to say that despite her new role, she won’t feel part of the Strictly “gang” as she was in previous years.

She explained: “I am going to meet them because I’m going to meet them on It Takes Two, but I’m not going to be part of the whole gang in the same way.

“But I’m so excited for Tom and AJ and Robert and more to come soon.”

Following her decade-long stint on the BBC show which she branded the best times of her life, Janette added that she feels “jealous” of the famous faces joining the programme.

Janette said: “Honestly, it was the best eight years of my life.

“There’s still going to be many more new memories, but seeing the celebs get announced, the first few coming out today.

“For those of you joining the team, joining the famous, I’m so jealous. Enjoy!” she added before signing off.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One next month.
