Ever since Sunday night’s Oscars, our feeds have been inundated with a bevy of memes and viral moments no matter how hard we’ve tried to get away from it. But earlier today in an actual update, Jada Pinkett Smith took a moment to post something a bit more reflective on social media, and TBH, it’s a welcome change.
This morning, the actor took to Instagram to post a simple message: “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.” No photo, no caption, no ability to comment on the post (trust us, we’ve tried). But despite a lack of…well…a lot, clearly, Jada is likely referencing where she’s at now after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars for making a joke about Jada. (Will has since apologized to Chris.)

I mean, in just the past 48 hours, the incident took place, Will subsequently won one of the top awards of the night for his role in King Richard, the family seemingly shrugged everything off and even got a standing ovation at Vanity Fair’s yearly after-party, the Academy began a formal review of the night’s events, and Will issued Chris an apology, saying, “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable.” You’re still with us, right? Okay, perf.
Cue Jada’s story this morning and a clear focus on healing. Only time will tell what will happen after the Academy conducts its formal review, but one thing’s for sure: Jada and Will are ready to move forward from this.
