Ex on the Beach’s Jess Impiazzi heartbroken as dad dies after long cancer battle

Ex on the Beach star Jess Impiazzi has announced that her dad has died after a long battle with cancer.

The 33 year old gave the sad update to followers as she posted a series of photos of her dad over the years, with the final one showing her holding his hand in hospital.

Jess captioned: "Sadly my dad Colin passed away late last night after a year with Terminal lung cancer and other complications.

"My dad was a fighter and held on so long. I’ll take that fighting spirit in to my future!

"I was able to hold his hand until the very end and that meant the world to me. Rest in peace Papa. I love you very much.”

Last year, Jess revealed that her dad, aged 70, was receiving end-of-life care amid his cancer battle.

She wrote in a post: "Defying the odds! My dad is on end of life care due to lung cancer, vascular dementia, Alzheimer’s and a heart aneurysm – but today he’s made it to his 70th birthday and that we shall celebrate.

"Happy birthday pops."

Jess received several comments of support from famous friends after sharing the tragic news about her dad. Kimberly Wyatt wrote back: “I’m so sorry for your loss Jess — sending love.”

TOWIE star Shelby Tribble said: “Sending you lots of love as she added several love heart emojis, while Ashley James told Jess: “I'm so sorry Jess. Sending you love.”

Jess’s devastating family update comes after she opened up last year about growing up in challenging circumstances as a child as her dad suffered with alcoholism.

The reality star later had to drop out of school as she took on the role of full time carer for her mum when she lost her sight 10 years ago.

Speaking about the difficult time, Jess told The Mirror: "I was very lost, I thought I’d lost everything. I was 17, I thought I was nothing going for me, that’s when I really hit the depression.

“Instead of being sad, I would be hyper and happy in front of everyone else, but when I was on my own I would the opposite.

“There’s a quote from Robin Williams about how the happiest people are often the ones who are hiding stuff, they don’t want other people to feel bad. I was just trying to put on this front all the time, then reality TV came along.”
