David and Victoria Beckham mark their 20th wedding anniversary

Victoria Beckham wears bridal white as she and David celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary with a very romantic champagne-fuelled private tour of the Palace Of Versailles (and joke they’re moving in!)

  • The Palace of Versailles was the main royal residence of the French monarchy from Louis XIV’s reign in 1682 until the start of the French Revolution in 1789, under Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
  • Located 20km southwest of Paris, the Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site and famed for its elaborate gardens, stunning Hall of Mirrors and the more intimate royal residences, the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon
  • The Château is currently the third biggest tourist attraction in France after the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower
  • A private tour of the Palace costs approximately £897 for a group of up to 20, with prestige packages also available upon request
  • David, 44, and Victoria, 45, married on July 4 1999 at Luttrellstown Castle, Dublin, in an extravagant ceremony — complete with golden thrones and a glittering tiara — that was reported to have cost an eye-watering £800,000
  • The couple are parents to Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 14 and Harper, seven
  • On Thursday, social media was awash with images from the wedding day, as David shared the caption: ‘WOW 20 years, look what we created Love you so much’ while Victoria posted a video collage of romantic images

The incredibly sweet gift for her mum and dad, saw Harper share a message for her dad reading: ‘I love my Daddy so much, especially when you sing to me when I’m in the bath or when you make me “Daddy’s Special Sandwiches” after school! I love you xxx’.

Hilariously, in the midst of the sweet celebratory messages, Romeo also shared a snap with Victoria, under which her mum Jackie Adams joked: ‘Romeo, who is that little person with you????’

Their highly-anticipated wedding ceremony came on July 4 in an extravagant ceremony — complete with golden thrones and a glittering tiara for the blushing bride.

While no expense was spared for the nuptials — conducted by Bishop of Cork, Paul Colton — the day was also filled with touching, heartfelt moments, including four-month-old Brooklyn serving as the ring bearer.

Through the ages: After getting together in 1997, the duo have easily become one of the showbiz world’s most iconic duos, with their ‘Brand Beckham’ garnering them millions and putting them on the map in the fashion, music and beauty world

Golden girl: Victoria’s gold and diamond tiara made by acclaimed jewellery designer Slim Barrett went up for auction in 2013

Victoria added: ‘We catch up on what we’ve missed on TV. We watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians. We’re soulmates. Sometimes people throw s*** at us but we get through it…

‘You deal with it, or you don’t.’You go into a marriage knowing there are going to be ups and downs. We’re in the public eye so we have more to deal with than most. We accepted that years ago. It’s just about us and the family.’

In 1996 — when Victoria was the more famous of the two, thanks to her role in chart-topping girl band the Spice Girls — young Manchester United footballer David, knew she was the one for him before they even met.

Then known to her legions of fans as Posh Spice, Victoria admitted that nobody even wanted to date her before she was eventually introduced to David in 1997 — at his request — after his team’s charity football match.

Through time: The pair are doting parents to four, including their eldest Brooklyn (pictured left in 2001) and their youngest Harper (pictured right last week)

Speaking in 2012, the mother-of-four told Spice Girls’ Story: Viva Forever: ‘There was a stage where someone wrote once how every woman wanted to be one of us and every man wanted to date one of us. Not that anyone wanted to date me. I think everyone wanted to sort of like just brush my hair.’

For prolific sportsman David, there was no question that she was the one he wanted to be with — and he even dreamed of the day he would marry the singer as he watched her writhe around in the video for her group’s hit single Say You’ll Be There.

‘That’s the girl for me and I’m going to get her!’ David told The Sun of a conversation he had with a pal as he watched the star strut her stuff onscreen. ‘She’s my idea of perfection. I knew that if she wanted me, we would be together forever.’

Plait’s it! Despite not being born when they made their first appearance, one of Harper’s pictures seemed to feature David’s iconic 2003 cornrow hairstyle

Live, laugh, love: The Beckhams are clearly more in love than ever, as illustrated in Harper’s insightful book

Just over a year after meeting, in January 1998, the couple, now affectionately dubbed Posh and Becks, ended weeks of speculation over whether they’d taken their romance to the next level, when they announced that they were engaged to marry.

However, before marriage came the baby carriage, with the increasingly famous duo welcoming the birth of their first child, a son called Brooklyn, in March, 1999.

And once it came time for them to set up home together, things were no less lavish, with the lovebirds constructing an abode in the leafy green county of Hertfordshire so grand that it was dubbed Beckhingham Palace — worth an estimated £7.5 million.
