Dave Grohl To Publish New Memoir ‘The Storyteller’

Dey Street Books will publish Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl‘s new memoir, “The Storyteller,” on October 5.

In a note about the upcoming book, Grohl said it “does give me a place to shed a little light on what it’s like to be a kid from Springfield, Virginia, walking through life while living out the crazy dreams I had as young musician. From hitting the road with Scream at 18 years old, to my time in Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, jamming with Iggy Pop or playing at the Academy Awards or dancing with AC/DC and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, drumming for Tom Petty or meeting Sir Paul McCartney at Royal Albert Hall, bedtime stories with Joan Jett or a chance meeting with Little Richard, to flying halfway around the world for one epic night with my daughters…the list goes on.”

“There is a common thread that runs throughout everything that I do: storytelling,” Grohl said in a statement. “Whether in song, documentary film, or on the page, I have always felt compelled to share moments from my life. This inclination is a huge part of what excites me creatively but also as a human being.”

Grohl revealed that some unexpected free time he got last year due to the pandemic lockdown gave him the chance to recollect and write some of his stories down for the first time.

The 304 page book is priced at $29.99.

Dey Street Books is an imprint of the William Morrow Group at HarperCollins.
