Corrie’s Sally Dynevor and Bridgerton star daughter devastated as family member dies

Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor and her daughter, Bridgerton actress Phoebe Dynevor, have paid tribute to a beloved family member after she passed away.

Shirley Dynevor, who was Sally’s mother-in-law and Phoebe’s grandmother, died earlier this week at the age of 89, with her family sharing the sad news on social media.

Corrie star Sally, 59, who plays Sally Metcalfe in the ITV soap, re-shared her husband Tim’s post on her Instagram story, with Bridgerton actress Phoebe, 27, also sharing the post.

Tim’s post featured a photo of his mother, with a caption that read: “Mum – May 15, 1933 – January 10, 2023", followed by a red heart emoji.

Many rushed to the comment section to share their condolences, including Sally's Coronation Street co-stars.

Jason Grimshaw star Ryan Thomas posed a red heart emoji, while Sally Carman, who plays Abi Franklin, added: "Thinking of you."

Sian Powers actress Sacha Parkinson added: "Sending lots of love to you all."

Shirley was born in Cardiff in 1933 and shot to fame as an actress in the 1950s with a starring role in TV series Charlesworth.

She also went on to appear in other shows such as Family Solicitor, The Liars, The Wednesday Play and Rogue Male.

Corrie star Sally and her husband Tim married in 1995 and share three children together: Bridgerton star Phoebe, Samuel, 25, and Harriet, 19.

Sally has been a regular on Coronation Street since 1986 and even received an MBE in 2022 for her services to drama.

Speaking about being named in the honours list, Sally said last year she was "humbled, grateful and very proud" to receive it.

"I am still in shock," she continued at the time. "I didn’t believe it was real when I first found out earlier this month that I was to be given an MBE. Keeping it a secret has been so difficult."

Acting talent clearly runs in the family, as daughter Phoebe shot to fame in 2020 playing the leading lady role of Daphne Bridgerton alongside Regé-Jean Page in the hit Netflix series.

Sally also appeared in the 2022 series of Dancing On Ice, where she was partnered with pro dance partner Matt Evers

"I do really want people to get to know me because they’ve only known my character for so long, but it’s putting yourself out there that’s quite difficult for me because I’ve never really done this before," Sally told OK! at the time.

“I’ve hidden behind the character so to suddenly come out after all these years is quite daunting.”
