Coronation Street actress Alison King, 46, is ready to introduce her love David Stuckley to the world after he proposed to her during a intimate Mediterranean cruise this summer.
Alison, who plays Carla Connor on the show, exclusively revealed her engagement and her hubby-to-be, David, with OK! magazine , in the first interview where she has publicly spoken about her relationship with the IT salesman.
Alison showed off a beautiful platinum and diamond ring, which David designed himself and revealed the details of her romantic engagement to OK! magazine.
Speaking about when David got down on one knee, Alison said: “It was just a few days after our one-year anniversary. I had an inkling he was going to pop the question because he kept putting something on my finger and going: ‘Right, close your eyes and forget this ever happened!’
“We’d also discussed marriage, too. I think we both went from: ‘No, we don’t ever need to get married,’ to: ‘Oh, we really want to get married!’.”
David plucked up the courage to get pop the question during a holiday with friends in Portugal. Alison said: “David had booked us a sunset cruise on our own.
“I’d bought him a Rolex as an engagement present too, and I took it along just in case he asked as I had an inkling he would! But as we drove towards the port at Albufeira, there were black clouds over the sea. The taxi driver was like: ‘You’re going on a boat? You’re kidding, right?’.”
David added: “The crew were all in on the surprise, so they said: ‘We’re not going to cancel, don’t worry!’ We got out of the marina and the waves were huge! I wouldn’t have dared to hold the ring in case it flew out of my hands. So I asked them to turn us around and they took us into the marina, where there were no people around.”
He then explained: “Once the crew had turned off the engine and gone downstairs, I got really nervous and started stumbling over my words. I thought, I’ve got to ask her now, so it was then that I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. I got emotional! I didn’t know what she was going to say.”

Alison added: “I said: ‘Yes please,’ and then I gave him the watch! It was perfect, even though it didn’t go to plan!”
The actress insisted the couple are “quite relaxed” and want a “nice party” for their wedding day. And they have already chosen a venue to get hitched in. But, Alison is yet to pick her dress for the big day.
She said: “I keep changing my mind about what I want and what’s going to suit me. I just need to go and try everything on! I also want to make sure I’m in my best shape on my wedding day.”
Alison was spotted with her “mystery man” David in 2018 and hasn’t gone public with her and David’s relationship until now.
The couple met in March 2018 when they shared their shared personal trainer hitched them up. They had seen each other before as their training sessions overlapped, Alison said: “My personal trainer Gareth was also training David and our sessions overlapped. I walked in and thought, ooh he looks nice. Then Gareth got to know David and realised he was single. He said he thought we’d make a really good couple, so he arranged to get us together.”
But, trainer Gareth didn’t tell David who he was going on a date with until the last minute.
Speaking about meeting Alison, David said: “Gareth mentioned Ali was in Corrie but I didn’t recognise her from that, as I didn’t use to watch it. I did remember Ali from the old Daz adverts, though! I was nervously sitting there as she was 20 minutes late. But within minutes of her arriving it was just dead easy and chilled. She had her draughts under her arm and we watched the Grand National!”
The couple then fell in love and realised they had “found the one” in each other when they went away to a cottage in the Lake District in June 2018 together.
David explained: “We were sitting at lunch and looking at each other. It was unspoken at first but then we were like, it’s happening, this is getting serious now. We were pretty much inseparable.”
Alison relived the moment they said they loved one another and said: “I was the first one to say it, though. I remember saying: ‘I think I’m in love with you,’ and he replied: ‘I’m so glad you said that because I feel exactly the same.’”
In a whirlwind year together, the pair have since got engaged and are starting to move in together, with Alison’s daughter from a previous relationship, Daisy Mae Huckett.
Actress Alison said: “We recently moved in together fully, and it’s really easy with the three of us. We do different jobs. He’s very good at doing all the washing and then I tend to put it away!”
