Charlene White’s sister, who is controlling her social media while the ITV News reader is appearing on I’m A Celebrity, has posted a video of the 42-year-old broadcaster explaining how “nervous” she is ahead of the show and revealing all of the beauty treatments she has had done before she ditches the make-up for good for a whole three weeks, and instead embraces nature.

In the video, a chirpy Charlene explained that she was waiting for a taxi to take her to Heathrow Airport where she was boarding her plane to Australia, where the show is back filming after a brief stint in Wales over the Covid period.

She said: “If you are watching this it means there has been a massive announcement! I am part of I’m A Celebrity this year.

“I’m nervous, really nervous. It has all suddenly become really real. A bit apprehensive I think but also really excited about what is to come.”

After admitting that the “scariest” thing about the entire process is the fact that someone else will be in control of what she is doing for the next few weeks, Charlene went on to explain more about her last minute preparations.

She said: “As you can see I have had my hair did.

“Now I am sort of thinking what if spiders get stuck in it!

“I have had my brows done, they are still a bit sore still. I have had stuff done to my lashes.

“I have done what young people do when it comes to wandering around with no make-up!”

Having prepped as much as she possibly could for her trip down under, Charlene convinced herself that the whole experience was going to be fun.

She continued: “It’s going to be fun… I think.”

“I really hope you guys enjoy what is to come.”

The Loose Women panellist then went on to express love to her family and friends, saying that one of the hardest things will be leaving her two children and her partner Andy.

“To Andy and the kids, I am going to miss you so much, I really am just going to miss you tons.

“And that is by far the hardest thing about doing this. I have been on the cusp of tears since I got up this morning.”

Since announcing her role in the upcoming series of I’m A Celeb, Charlene has received a tidal wave of support from her friends, colleagues and fans, who are used to her bringing them the latest headlines.

The Head of Planning at ITV News Rebecca Williams tweeted to say: “Just screeched at the telly. Rooting for our girl @CharleneWhite who’s taking a break from @itvlondon @itvnews to get the scoop of her life in Australia.

“I can’t believe she’s swapping her creature comforts for those critters. Can’t wait for #Imaceleb2022 – starting Sunday.”

Presenter Saima Mohsin also got behind her friend, tweeting: “I interrupt the newsy posts to say. The secret is out!!! @CharleneWhite is on #imaceleb !!!! (sic)

“Eek! I will be voting for her every night. I will not be voting for one of my BFF’s to eat creepy crawlies … but I know her sister @_CarinaWh will.”

Charlene’s fellow Loose Women presenters also discussed the star’s involvement in the show, with Brenda Edwards calling her “crazy” for taking part, after vowing she would never take part herself.

Brenda went on to say of her colleague: “Charlene is very determined, we know she likes things to go a certain way. Just don’t drop a spider next to her because she will be flying all over the place and screaming. So that could be good entertainment!”
