Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Carole King recently posted a video of herself singing her 2010 classic, “So Far Away” to Facebook.
In the video, King altered the first line of the song from “So far away/Doesn’t anybody stay in one place any more?” to a lyric that is more apt for the self-isolating era: “So far away/everyone has to stay in one place.”
The rest of the song remained unaltered, as it is perfectly suited to the physically isolated and anxious times that people are experiencing all around the globe.
“Long ago I reached for you and there you stood/Holding you again could only do me good/Oh how I wish I could but you’re so far away” she croons at the beginning of the melancholy tune.
In addition to providing a soothing tune for fans to enjoy, she also wished everyone well and thanked them for “staying in and making sure that we do our part to help this crisis go away. May it be soon.”
