Former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman has taken to Instagram to lament her lack of “style” while watching The Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards this evening. Sharing a candid snap of her evening in, Carol revealed that her attempt to create a “stylish” living room had been dashed by the presence of her workout equipment.

Why oh why oh why can I never be stylish?

In view of her 182,000 followers, the mathematician gave her fans an inside view of her stunning lounge.

With the TV on and ready to watch The Pride of Britain Awards, Carol showcased her gorgeous living room.

Carol’s TV took centre stage above the fireplace while featuring two matching silver mirrors on either side.

A glamorous black chandelier hung from the ceiling while the mother-of-two had decked the room out in candles.

Carol wrote: “Getting ready for @prideofbritian,” alongside a red heart.

She went on: “Chez me right now, why oh why oh why can I never be stylish?” she lamented next to two laughing face emojis.

The star told how despite her best attempts at cultivating the perfect living room, the presence of her exercise gear had ruined her efforts.

“Lovely mantelpiece, nice candles even, but a weights bar with Olympic plates and an exercise bench sneaking into view,” she went on.

“Ah well, I’m happy, hope you enjoy meeting our award winners and their stories tonight.

“They are extraordinary,” Carol added.

Hosting The Pride of Britain awards alongside singer Ashley Banjo, Carol stunned in a floor length, fish-tail red dress.

The glamorous number showed off her tiny waist while displaying her assets thanks to the plunging neckline.

Taking to the red carpet last weekend, Carol put on a busty display in a stunning navy gown as she made a defiant comment about her age.

The author made a dazzling entrance at the event as she stopped to pose for pictures.

Carol was also spotted on the red carpet alongside her two children, daughter Katie and son Cameron.

The TV star has presented the awards since they started in 1999, but this year sees her being joined by a co-host for the first time.

Speaking at the event, Carol said: “I never let my age stop me from doing anything.

“Or wearing anything for that matter.

“I feel more confident now than I ever have in my life.

“I think with age all your inhibitions just vanish, and it’s a wonderful feeling,” she told The Daily Mirror.
