Amber Gill has revealed the reason behind her split from Greg O'Shea — after confirming he dumped her by text.
The Love Island winners broke up after just five weeks together on Friday, with Amber reported to be "devastated" over their split.
Amber, 22, took to Loose Women on Monday afternoon to discuss their break up for the first time, where she announced what pushed Greg to dump her.
She told fellow panellists Christine Lampard, Carol McGiffin and Jane Moore: "All I wanted was just a bit of effort for him to come to London or Newcastle to come and see me.
"It was just like, 'I’m going to have to give up if you don’t put the effort in' and then it was just like, 'Okay, bye.'
"So I was like 'oh really?' I was expecting it to be a bit different."
The Geordie beautician added: "I think there was a bit of miscommunication but I think if you don’t want to be with someone, you don’t want to be with someone."
Discussing her split from Greg further on the show, Amber said: "Obviously I'm really disappointed, I wasn't expecting it at all.
"I was due just that weekend just gone to fly out to Dublin and spend the weekend with him and we were going on a TV show together and on that day I had to cancel because it wasn't working out.
What are the Love Island 2019 stars up to now?
"But yeah, I just think, you know the career and the distance was always a factor, it was always something that we knew about so I don't know what changed. I wanted to make it work but it is what it is really."
When asked by fellow panellist Carol if she was disappointed in the situation or Greg himself, Amber responded: "A little bit of both.
"I am disappointed that it's over but, you know, I'm booked and I'm busy. I'll be fine, onwards and upwards from here."
Discussing whether the split was mutual, Amber continued: "From my point of view I still wanted to make to work and there was a call a few days prior just chatting, not specifically to do with that but definitely on that day it was a text.
"We were texting each other, but that’s why I had to cancel [an appearance alongside Greg on live TV]."
Greg claimed on Friday night that his split from the Geordie beautician was a mutual decision, insisting he hadn't dumped her by text.
Love Island 2019 winners: Amber and Greg
He took to The Late Late Show alongside fellow Love Island co-stars Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard to say: "Me and Amber have been chatting over the last couple of days and over phone calls, this whole thing about a text message isn’t true, people just want to tell stories.
"We’re mad about each other, I’m mad about her, what’s not to be mad about? She’s gorgeous, smart, funny, personality, the queen of Love Island for a reason.
"But you need to be realistic about the situation, she lives in the UK, every brand wants to work with her, every event wants her there, of course, she deserves all of it.
"And I’ve come back to Ireland to do my thing here, hoping to get to the Olympics with the Sevens team, I have my law exams coming up.
"We’re both so jam packed busy and you need to take these opportunities by the scruff of the neck and be realistic about the situation so we’re protecting our careers, that’s where we are at the moment."
Speaking about their decision, he continued: "It was over a long time, it wasn’t over a text, it was a couple of days. "I’m mad about her and I hope she’s mad about me so we’ll see about the future."
